THE GREAT PLAN - 20 SEPT 2009 :

To start with, I never had the experience of organizing a trip but I didn’t expect the first one to be so challenging. It was two days before the trip, on one of the sleepless nights I had a weird thought on my mind,” We are nearing our end of our college life, so why don’t we go on a batch trip to some place”. So single handedly I decided that we can go to Ooty which is quite near to Coimbatore on a one day trip and so I sent an sms to all the classmates two days before. Surprisingly I got a positive reply from the girls first which I didn’t expect and it was good. But to my frustration none of the boys replied me for a very long time. But slowly after a painstalking two hours I started getting positive reply from the guys also. Everything went well. Most of the hostel guys and a few dayscholar guys agreed to the trip. But there again came a thunderstorm that on 21st sept 2009 , we have got a company that has come for recruitment which hasn’t been open for CSE. But there was a saying that it may open for CSE at the last moment. One by one my classmates started to withdraw from the plan owing to placement. I was so frustrated as it was a major blow on my first ever plan of a trip. Inspite of these controversies some of my friends suggested that we can still go on the trip because the probability of the company to open for CSE was very infinitesimal. So the next day (i.e the day before the trip) class trip suddenly changed its course as friends trip and few guys and girls accepted to come. It was about twenty people who had agreed to it. So I started arranging for transportation. Since it was Ramzan the next day and that weekend had three continuous days as holidays I wasn’t able to get a single vehicle. I was sitting frustrated unaware what to do next. At that moment , like a sign of light in a dark room my friend called me up and gave me a contact number of a travel agent. Finally I called him up and fixed up a van for our one day trip to Ooty. Feeling quite happy I returned home when things started to change. The day after the trip we had a retest of an internal paper (IP). So few guys left the plan. Few girls told that they were not comfortable with Ooty. I became half mental then. I was dumbstruck and I lay down on my bed and was staring at the ceiling blankly. I called up the travel agent and cancelled the van.But few of my friends didn’t lose hope. They said they will arrange for vehicles and they changed the spot to Topslip, Azhiyar dam and monkey falls. Finally twelve people agreed to come and I should say special thanks to my friends for offering their cars for transportation. Atlast after a strenuous day of planning and organinsing I went to sleep with high hopes for the trip the next day. And you wouldn’t believe who all agreed to come.
